Our Leader

Thank you for taking the time to discover Fieldstone. I am Lynne Alley-Grant, a United Methodist Pastor. By now, I hope you've sensed that at Fieldstone we take life very seriously. Not to misunderstand. Play and laughter is plentiful around our place. But simply, people, celebrations, service to others and Good News is what we are about.

Fieldstone is a place open to anyone who wants to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. A disciple is a learner, a person who chooses to follow the teachings of Jesus in his or her life. We study the Bible to understand the teachings of Jesus. All of life comes from God. Some 2000 years ago, a baby named Jesus was born to a woman named Mary who at Jesus' birth, was engaged to a man named Joseph. Jesus was a typical boy but as he grew, he came to understand that God had made him fully divine as well as fully human. This fact made him uniquely different. Jesus understood the meaning of God fully and he spent his life and eventually sacrificed it, teaching people the meaning of love, compassion, mercy and justice. He brought Good News to the people of his day for they did not understand that forgiveness, faith, and love was the Way to be faithful and obedient to God.

Some who were afraid of Jesus eventually killed him. He died in his early 30's hanging from a cross made from a tree. This type of killing, known as a crucifixion was a common way to deal with criminals in Jesus' day. Jesus had always told his followers that LIGHT is stronger than darkness. Jesus worked until his death to help people know that life can be good when the love of God is the center of one's life.

When Jesus died, his friends and people who had believed that he was indeed the son of God, grieved. It was not to be the end. The word had been true about the power of LIGHT.

God brought life again to Christ. Through his resurrection, the hopes of Jesus' early followers soared. Followers of Jesus were called among other things, people of the Light. Today, people who follow the teachings of Jesus are still people who carry light into darkness adding light to the world.
